Maldives among most instagrammed

Messi – Make sure to tag #Maldives if you are sharing pictures from the sunny side of life. Maldives is among the most instagrammed tourist attractions in the world. Maldives made it into fourth place, with 622,504 photos uploaded.

Interestingly Maldives is the only place to make it to the list out of Europe, America and Australia.

Of a list of 20 must-visit tourist attractions, the 125-year-old Paris tower came out on top with 977,287 images uploaded to the photo-sharing website using its names as a hashtag – more than than any other tourist attraction around the globe.

New York’s Times Square scooped second place, with 773,569 photos shared on Instagram with the attraction’s hashtag, followed by London’s Big Ben, with 689,375 images.

The research focused on how many of the 60 million photos uploaded on to Instagram every day feature hashtags for tourist attractions.

Billy Hughes, a Hotel General Manager said, ‘Taking the perfect photo to capture their visit is a key consideration for our guests so we decided to conduct some research to uncover the top photo opportunities around the globe.

‘The results offer a definitive guide to the world’s most impressive and famous landmarks – a bucket list for aspiring travellers planning their next trip.’
