Centara to Open Second Resort in Maldives
Maldives Promotion House – Centara Hotels & Resorts, Centel’s hotel management chain, has recently announced that they will be building a second property in the Maldives.
Named as the Centara Giraavaru Resort & Spa Maldives, the new resort will be only 15 minutes by speedboat from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. Featuring 110 over water villas, and 30 more on the island, the 140-villa resort is estimated to cost USD53 million.
The resort, set to open during next year’s fourth quarter, will offer an all day dine in restaurant, an Asian theme restaurant and poolside barbeques. The resort will also feature Centel’s signature spa SPA Cenvaree, a swimming pool, fitness centre, activity centre and a diving centre.
Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa their first property in Maldives, opened in 2009, is located in South Ari Atoll surrounded by some of the best coral and diving spots.
Centara Hotels & Resorts, now operates 61 properties comprising more than 10,000 rooms in eight countries including Maldives, Thiland, India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Fifteen properties are owned outright or joint ventures, while the rest are under management contracts.
