Workation in Maldives: Three reasons to work and holiday at LUX* Resorts

Published

on

Working in new surroundings can increase productivity and decrease stress levels if done right. After months of working from home, it is no surprise that boredom and burn-out will start to set in from constantly facing the four walls.

Ditch those tropical Zoom backgrounds and take your work from home mise en scene to work from paradise in the Maldives with these three reasons.

Inspiring environment

Leave your shoes locked away and luxuriate in barefoot comfort with over two miles of powder-fine beaches at LUX* South Ari Atoll Resort & Villas, or reconnect with nature with an endless view of all the different shades of blue from the patio of your Water Villa in LUX* North Male Atoll Resort & Villas.

Creativity and innovation will be on overdrive while breathing in the clean, salty sea breeze.

Stable high-speed connectivity allows you to designate your workspace anywhere within your villa whether it is on the terrace or at the work desk to get into full professional mode.

In-villa breakfast and lunch can also be arranged if you are feeling particularly inspired to complete that report.

Defining work time and fun time

Delineate work and fun time for the best of both worlds to maintain the highest productivity by sticking to a routine; start the day off with a morning yoga, meditation or fitness class before settling into work mode with free-flowing coffee from Café LUX* between 8-11am daily.

When you are ready to call it a day, a relaxing 60-minute treatment at LUX* Me Spa or a sunset cruise on the catamaran awaits to help you unwind and get into vacation mode.

Pop-up surprises such as the outdoor Cinema Paradiso or secret messages in bottles hidden throughout both resorts will jazz up your day and help you disconnect and recharge.

Contributing to a sustainable circular economy

Sustain local tourism so that we may continue innovating and contributing to the protection of the environment and our fragile ocean ecosystem.

The teams at LUX* South Ari Atoll and LUX* North Male Atoll are active participants in the conservation of marine life, reducing energy consumption as well as combating climate change.

Join their various corporate social responsibility programmes or volunteer efforts by chatting with our resident marine biologists; plant your own coral and get a greeting from it nine months later or adopt a sea turtle; whatever you are passionate about, you can leave your (barefoot) footprint to make a difference.

LUX* South Ari Atoll’s Work from Your Home in the Maldives package starts from $5,692 for two persons in a Water Villa on full board basis, while LUX* North Male Atoll’s package starts from $9,581 for two persons in a Water Villa on half board basis, for a minimum of seven nights up to 30 nights stay.

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives will mark the festive season with a programme that combines charitable initiatives with its sustainability commitments. Guests will be invited to donate, run, paddle and plant in support of local community and environmental projects, alongside dining experiences that highlight Maldivian produce.

Under its World of Care commitments, the resort has adopted initiatives to improve the school experience for children at R. Maduvvari School on the neighbouring island and to protect the surrounding marine ecosystem. Participation in the season’s activities will contribute directly to these programmes.

From 25 December 2025 to 7 January 2026, guests may purchase wrapped gifts from a Christmas Charity Surprise Tree, with all proceeds directed to the resort’s charitable causes.

On 27 December 2025, Euro Divers will lead a coral-planting session within the house reef. The activity forms part of an ongoing conservation effort to strengthen reef resilience by increasing coral diversity through the careful planting of hardy coral fragments.

Seasalt restaurant will host a “Boat to Table” beachfront barbecue on 28 December 2025 and 4 January 2026. The buffet will feature seafood such as giant tuna sashimi, ceviche and grilled fish prepared from the day’s catch supplied by local fishermen, reflecting the resort’s focus on local sourcing and support for the Raa Atoll community.

A Charity Kayak Race will take place on 30 December 2025 and 5 January 2026. Entry will be by voluntary donation, with funds supporting enhancements at the R. Maduvvari pre-school.

On 2 January 2026, the programme will conclude with a Charity Island Fun Run around the island. Branded t-shirts will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the resort’s community initiatives.
