The Spa Retreat at Conrad Maldives Adds Naturopathy to its Treatment Menu
Maldives Promotion House – The Spa Retreat, a destination spa that operates as a ‘resort-within-a-resort’ at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, is welcoming the arrival of naturopath Hania Opienski in March. Her specialties include Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture (which can include electro-acupuncture and cupping), iridology (observation of the eye to develop an understanding of the constitution), flower essences (energetic medicine that works with emotional balancing) nutrition, and naturopathy (which encompasses all three elements as well as Western herbal medicine and lifestyle advice). Reiki and ear candling are also available at the Spa Retreat.
Hania’s role at the Spa Retreat is to offer a helping hand in guiding guests achieve overall wellness in a welcoming and healing setting.
“Naturopathy and acupuncture are both very broad holistic therapies that can address any issues the guest may have, whether physical, mental, emotional or even spiritual,” Hania said. “As these therapies are aimed at creating holistic balance, it’s possible to address a wide range of health issues in a typical consultation. You don’t have to be ill to see me; I can assist with meeting goals for weight loss, stress reduction, or improving energy levels as well”.
Naturopathy sessions are priced at USD 155 for a 90-minute consultation, which includes a 30-minute iridology diagnosis followed by an in-depth discussion about health history, diet, lifestyle and exercise. Hania will offer personalized guidance to meet the guest’s particular requirements and lifestyle whether it be a short-term health pick-me-up or addressing long term concerns.
Hania also hosts weekly free health sessions at the resort where she presents different themes introducing the benefits of naturopathy and acupuncture, and can answer questions from curious guests.
British born and bred, with a Polish and Indian background, Hania is an acupuncturist with over five years’ clinical experience in London and Melbourne. Initially trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture (TCM) she has also studied cosmetic acupuncture. In addition, she uses energetic medicine such as Reiki and Life Alignment Technique to enhance her treatments where appropriate.
She holds a Bachelors of Science degree and Licentiate Diploma in TCM acupuncture from The London College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Naturopathic Nutritional Medicine from the Endeavour College of Natural Health in Melbourne which included iridology, two years of naturopathic Western herbal medicine and practitioner level training in both the Australian Bush Flower and Bach Flower Essences.
The Spa Retreat is a self-contained resort-within-a-resort set on stilts over the lagoon. It consists of 21 spacious Retreat Water Villas, each with their own private treatment room and mini-gym, clustered around a central spa. The spa has nine treatment rooms, five with private pavillions with sauna and steam room and Jacuzzi or private plunge pool, as well as a hair salon, boutique, sun deck, relaxation area and a natural herbal dispensary. A restaurant serving bio-dynamic and organic produce completes the Spa Retreat.
The Spa Retreat philosophy is based on the five elements of life – earth, air, fire, water and plant – each providing its own wellbeing characteristic and featuring its own signature aromatherapy blend. Organic Eminence products, luxury spa line Terrake and ghd hair spa products are used to complement the philosophy.
Together with a spa consultant, guests can create the wellbeing programme that best suits their individual needs, be it a one hour treatment or 10-day package combining therapies, gourmet spa cuisine and fitness activities to suit their goals, from it detox to relaxation. The resident naturopath and nutritionist is on hand to offer consultations and provide supplements or herbs from the herbal dispensary.

ELE|NA expands sustainable wellness approach for World Earth Day
This World Earth Day, ELE|NA is placing sustainability at the centre of its wellness approach through a programme led by Sustainability Ambassadors across its spa network. Through a set of circular practices and guest-facing initiatives, the brand is linking environmental responsibility with the spa experience.
At the centre of the programme are ELE|NA’s Sustainability Ambassadors, team members based in each resort spa who promote environmentally conscious practices. These ambassadors support both staff and guests in adopting sustainable actions, from daily operations to workshops designed to encourage participation and awareness.
Guests are invited to join hands-on sustainability workshops that combine learning with practical activities. These include the Juice Bike, sessions on making natural haircare products, the preparation of coconut and coffee scrubs and oils, and the making of coconut candy. Guests can also take part in a sand bundle workshop, where used spa linen is repurposed into handmade sand bundles later used in spa treatments.
ELE|NA’s sustainability model also extends to resource use within spa and hospitality operations. Apples previously used in infused water are turned into apple chips, while orange peel waste from the kitchen is made into sweets served to guests after treatments. Used herbal tea is repurposed as fertiliser for spa gardens, supporting a circular approach to materials and waste.
The brand is also aligning its Earth Day programming with the 2026 global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet”, by focusing on nature-based healing practices. ELE|NA says this includes reducing the use of synthetic tools and instead incorporating natural materials such as bamboo and coconut shells into treatments. The approach is intended to reflect a model of wellness built around renewal and lower-impact resource use.
This philosophy is also reflected in wellness experiences including Ocean Flow, Reiki, Sunrise Yoga and Floating Sound Bath sessions, which are designed to connect guests more closely with the natural environment. Through these programmes, ELE|NA is positioning wellbeing and environmental awareness as part of the same experience.
ELE|NA has also received Gold Standard accreditation from Sustainable Wellness, a non-profit organisation established in 2020 to provide independent sustainability guidance and benchmarking for the wellness sector. The accreditation marks a step in the brand’s sustainability programme and reflects its stated focus on responsible wellness practices.
Beyond its own spas, ELE|NA is presenting sustainable wellness as an operational model that can be applied across resort and spa settings. The brand says the framework is designed to support guest engagement, brand positioning and service delivery, while also being scalable for hospitality operators seeking to integrate sustainability standards, staff training and wellness programming into their own operations.

Constance Moofushi introduces sound healing and aerial yoga to wellness offering
Constance Moofushi, a gem in the heart of the South Ari Atoll, has unveiled an enhanced wellness programme, designed to elevate the guest experience through holistic wellbeing and restorative island serenity. Surrounded by vibrant lagoons and rich coral gardens, the resort blends luxury and simplicity to create an idyllic sanctuary for divers, wanderers, and wellness seekers alike.
At the heart of this renewed offering is Constance Spa, an elegant sanctuary set on a wooden jetty above the turquoise waters. With panoramic ocean views, a shaded relaxation area, 8 treatment rooms, a serene yoga pavilion and a fully equipped fitness room, the spa offers a peaceful setting dedicated to relaxation, renewal and holistic care.

As part of this wellness journey, Constance Spa Moofushi introduces two new experiences: Sound Healing Therapy and Aerial Yoga.
Sound Healing Therapy offers a deeply immersive vibrational experience designed to support the body’s natural self-regulation. Using seven chakra aligned singing bowls, Tingsha Bell, crystal resonant bowl, therapeutic tuning forks, and gentle gong frequencies, the session introduces precisely layered sound waves that interact with the autonomic nervous system. These low-frequency vibrations help the body shift from a sympathetic “stress response”to a parasympathetic state -encouraging slower breathing, reduced muscle tension, and improved emotional balance.
Aerial Yoga brings a playful yet restorative dimension to the wellness programme. Using suspended silk hammocks to support and deepen traditional yoga postures, he practice helps improve flexibility, strengthen the core, release tension and encourage a sense of lightness and renewal. Suitable for all levels, it offers guests a unique way to reconnect body and mind.

To complement these new experiences and enrich the guest experience, Constance Spa Moofushi also offers a diverse array of fitness and wellness sessions, including Mobility & Flexibility, Punch Fit, Balance & Power, and Pilates Mat. Morning Yoga, evening Sunset Serenity, and weekly Wellness Wednesday chakra meditation add further depth to the resort’s holistic approach while personalised coaching and tailored fitness programmes are available for guests seeking more individual support.
With this expanded wellness offering, Constance Moofushi Maldives continues to reaffirm its commitment to creating meaningful experiences that nurture both body and mind in one of the Indian Ocean’s most serene settings.
