Queen Of The Air Susi Mai In Maldives

Published

on

Maldives Promotion House – The professional German kite surfer, Susi Mai, famously known as the RedBull “Queen of the Air”, made a recent visit to Maldives. Before she arrived in Velassaru Maldives, a few days back, she stated on her Facebook Page, “Heading out to the Maldives. Can’t tell you what I’m doing there yet, but wish me luck.”

Well, Susi Mai who has been travelling all over the world came to Maldives to attempt a jump over a water bungalow in Velassaru Maldives. Unfortunately Susi was not able to make the jump due to the lack of wind.

“The water bungalow is about 7 meters high. So in order to jump that high I need a lot of wind, something like a storm. Sadly I couldn’t do it because there wasn’t enough wind,” Susie said.

Susi Mai has been kite surfing for about nine years and lives in the Dominican Republic. This is also her first visit to Maldives.

“I’ve heard a lot about the Maldives, especially from my friends, but I’ve never had the pleasure of coming here before. This is the first time I’ve been here, and I love this place. It is really really beautiful. It is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. The water is really alive with lots and lots of fish. I’ve travelled all over the world, for kite surfing, but I’ve never seen a place with so much life under water,” Susi said.

When asked if Maldives has lived up to her expectations, Susi expressed her feelings saying that “I should just move here and wait for that storm, to make the jump.”

“I keep my expectations low, because you never know what’s going to happen. I knew it was going to be beautiful, I just didn’t know it was going to be this amazing, and everyone has been so friendly and really helpful,” she added.

She also said that Maldives has the right conditions for kite surfing, and that it can be developed throughout the country.

“The conditions for kite surfing here in Maldives are really nice. Because all around the island the water is really flat. You can imagine even when you’re driving, if the road is bumpy then it’s really uncomfortable, but here the water is flat,” she said.

“I think it’s going to be hard to keep this place a secret for a long time, because it’s really really amazing,” Susi Mai said.

From first visit to thousand dives: Love story anchored at Bandos Maldives

Published

on

Bandos Maldives recently marked a significant milestone with two of its most loyal guests, Kate and Andy, who have shared a long-standing connection with the island.

Andy achieved an impressive feat by completing his 900th dive, all undertaken with Dive Bandos. His wife, Kate, surpassed this accomplishment by reaching her 1000th dive, with over 900 of those dives also completed alongside the Bandos team.

The Dive Bandos team joined the couple in celebrating this memorable occasion, recognising not only their dedication to diving but also the enduring bond they have formed with the resort over the years.

Kate and Andy’s relationship with Bandos extends far beyond statistics. Having first visited the island in 2006, they have returned every year since, making Bandos an integral part of their lives. In 2014, the couple even chose to exchange their wedding vows underwater at the resort — a unique moment that forever linked their love story with Bandos.

“Celebrating guests like Kate and Andy reminds us of what Bandos truly represents,” said Ismail Rasheed, General Manager of Bandos Maldives.

For Bandos Maldives, moments such as these exemplify why guests continue to choose the island for both adventure and a sense of belonging. With stories like Kate and Andy’s, Bandos stands not merely as a dive destination, but as a home — both beneath and above the waves.
