Published

on

Kuredu Island Resort and Spa has named Patrick de Staercke as its new General Manager.

In a statement on Thursday, Kuredu hailed Patrick’s management skills, passion and customer orientation as well as his bright personality, wit and accommodating nature. Those skills and characteristics coupled with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and constant improvement of facilities and services will result in Kuredu maintaining its lead as one of the best-value resorts in the Maldives, it said.

“His professional background and excellent people skills have been a winning mix for bringing all resorts under his management to new heights,” the statement read.

Since arriving in the Maldives in 2006 to serve as the F&B Director at Meeru Island Resort and Spa, Patrick has led the teams at several resorts run by local hotel operator Crown and Champa Resorts. Most recently, the popularity of Komandoo Island Resort and Spa, one of the Maldives’ most romantic resorts, and the outstanding guest feedback that the newly opened Hurawalhi Island Resort and Spa is receiving are examples of Patrick’s determination to exceed bottom line expectations and his drive to attain the best possible performance.

In addition to his extensive experience managing some of the most sought after resorts in the Maldives, the Brit has worked in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Singapore and Thailand with international hotel chains such as InterContinental Hotel Group and Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts.

Kuredu is one of seven resorts run by Crown and Champa Resorts, a group of resorts owned by some of the pioneers of tourism in the Maldives. Other resorts run by the group include the five-star Komandoo Island Resort and Spa, the 4.5-star Meeru Island Resort and Spa, the five-star Veligandu Island Resort and Spa, the 4.5-star Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa, and the newly opened Hurawalhi Island Resort and Spa and its private island retreat Kudadoo Maldives Private Island by Hurawalhi which is set to open in December.

The festival promises a convergence of globally acclaimed creatives and thought leaders, including celebrated Canadian poet and illustrator Rupi Kaur, and a display of Amarta, a mesmerising light installation by James Turrell. Among the standout highlights is the guest residency of WAGYUMAFIA, the pioneering Tokyo-based culinary collective renowned for revolutionising the experience of Japanese wagyu, hosted at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands.

As part of the festivities, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives will offer a rare, one-night-only dining experience by WAGYUMAFIA for two fortunate couples on 20 September. The minimalist, design-forward setting will provide the perfect backdrop for WAGYUMAFIA’s unique culinary expression.

This extraordinary gastronomic experience is available exclusively through Marriott Bonvoy Moments and is open to Marriott Bonvoy members. The package includes a three-night stay in an Ocean Pool Villa at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, from 19 to 22 September 2025, along with return luxury speedboat transfers from Velana International Airport and daily breakfast at La Locanda. Further enriching the experience are exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities with featured talent, and a special evening hosted by award-winning mixologists from two of the World’s 50 Best Bars—Danico and Nutmeg & Clove—at the Fari Beach Club. The pinnacle of the stay will be the exclusive WAGYUMAFIA dinner at IWAU on 20 September.
