World-famous superyacht Hermitage docks at Jumeirah Vittaveli
Jumeirah Vittaveli in the Maldives has once again been the destination of choice for a world-famous superyacht.
Hermitage, which belongs to Azerbaijani business tycoon Anatoly Sedhyk, was seen anchored off Jumeirah Vittaveli on January 7.
The 223ft custom motor yacht was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Rendsburg shipyard and delivered to Sedhyk in 2011 for a reported price of USD 100 million.
Hermitage’s interior configuration has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests overnight in six cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 18 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
The external appearance features a white on black paint scheme where the black masks most of the windows on the superstructure and covers the main mast as well. There is tender space in aft garages likely served by twin hatch doors. A large pool is located on the sundeck, forward of the main mast while there is a jacuzzi forward, over looking the bow on the upper deck.
Sedykh is the co-founder of the the United Metallurgical Company (known as UMC or OMK), which is one of Russia’s largest producers of pipes, railway wheels and other steel products for energy, transport and industrial companies. With an estimated net worth of USD 1 billion, Sedykh also owns a Bombardier BD-700-1A11 Global 5000 private jet.
Jumeirah Vittaveli has been a favourite amongst owners of well-known superyachts.
World’s most famous superyacht, Motor Yacht A visited the resort in 2018.
Meanwhile, Jumeirah Vittaveli is reportedly in the process of acquiring an 85-foot Azimut superyacht. The yacht will be permanently docked at Jumeirah Vittaveli and guests may charter it for private excursions or even stay aboard as part of their private island holidays.
Located a short 20-minute ride on board a luxurious motorised catamaran from capital, Jumeirah Vittaveli offers unmatched diversity, subtle luxury and personalised exploration, whether you are seeking a romantic getaway or an exotic destination for your family.
The 3,500 square metre Royal Residence can accommodate 14 people, with prices from USD 35,000 per night. This lavish private retreat comprises private beach, dedicated restaurant, spa, two swimming pools, an overwater sundeck, jetty, chef, butler and golf buggy chauffeur.

Fresh from being named Best Honeymoon Destination in 2025, Sun Siyam Iru Veli was recognised as Best Wedding Destination at the Travel Trade Maldives Awards & Gala 2026, held at Crossroads Maldives on 27 August. The award further reinforces the resort’s commitment to celebrating romance in all its forms.
Surrounded by turquoise lagoons and white-sand beaches, Iru Veli provides a natural setting for couples seeking an intimate island retreat. Every villa features a private pool, while secluded beaches, private sandbanks and a 24-hour all-inclusive dine-around experience offer guests privacy and flexibility throughout their stay.
The resort hosts celebrations of different scales, ranging from barefoot ceremonies by the ocean to larger events encompassing the entire island. Dedicated wedding planners work closely with each couple to personalise every element, ensuring that both the ceremony and the wider stay reflect their individual story.
This flexibility extends beyond the resort’s wedding packages. Simple Romance, Grand Gesture and Sandbank Magic provide couples with a starting point, with each celebration customisable through décor, dining, wellness, entertainment and island experiences. For occasions requiring complete exclusivity, full-island buyouts allow the resort experience to be tailored around the couple and their guests.
The celebrations can continue beyond the ceremony through candlelit dinners beneath the stars, spa rituals for two, sunset cruises and time spent together across the island. These experiences enable couples to shape the occasion around their preferences, with personal moments unfolding throughout their stay.
“Every couple arrives with a different story and a different vision for their celebration. There is no template here. From intimate ceremonies for two to full-island celebrations with family and friends, our role is to create moments that feel completely personal. That is exactly what our team does. They listen first and then create a ceremony that truly reflects the couple. This award is a testament to the dedication and care they put into making every moment memorable,” said Masdhooq Saeed, Cluster General Manager of Sun Siyam Iru Veli and Sun Siyam Vilu Reef.
The annual TTM Awards & Gala brings together travel professionals and hoteliers to recognise achievements across the Maldivian hospitality industry. Iru Veli’s latest award further strengthens its position among the Maldives’ leading destinations for weddings and romantic escapes.
