MMPRC Announces Their PR Related Tourism Solutions
Maldives Promotion House – The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has appointed PR agencies in UK, Germany and China to undertake media coordination and PR related activities as part of the strategy for promoting the destination and to maintain and increase tourist arrivals from core markets.
The role of the agencies would be to boost the image of the destination, increase investor confidence, to overcome negative publicity as well as to increase market share from the core markets and to work towards achieving one million tourist arrivals target of the Maldives in 2012.
In addition, MMPRC has also appointed an International PR agency to oversee the overall media coordination and achievement of PR related solution for destination Maldives to instil confidence in the tourism industry of the Maldives, gain understanding and public acknowledgement of the Maldives in the international Community, to ensure sustainable development of the tourism industry and to improve the image of the destination.
A good response was received for the Request for Proposals (RFP) announcements by MMPRC with a total of 23 proposals submitted in total for the respective markets from different countries. The proposals were analysed and evaluated based on the criteria stated on the RFP. The criteria was based on USP specific expertise of the company, organisational capacity, Maldives’ Understanding, proposed media planning and strategy, activities and partnerships, buying credentials, standard of previous work and costs based on monthly retainer fee/out of pocket expenses/hourly rate of professional staff. Agencies appointed in the respective markets are Rooster PR for UK, Belcanto Communications for Germany, Travel Link Marketing for China and Ruder Finn Inc based in the USA for USA and International PR coverage.
Due to diversification and expansion of the tourism product, there is a need to further boost the demand and create avenues for further investments. Expansion of tourism to new Atolls, increase in bed capacity, development of new domestic airports, expansion of the existing International
Airport, establishment of new international brands in Maldives, development of luxury villas and guest houses are part of the ongoing developments. Hence, the destination promotion and PR work have to be in line with these developments.
In addition, MMPRC is also in the process of appointing PR Agencies in India, Russia and Middle East. Multiple marketing and PR strategies will be adopted to further promote Maldives as premium tourism destination under the slogan of Maldives,the Sunny Side of Life.
