MAHRP to host ‘HR Best Practice Share’ session in Addu

Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) has announced plans to bring its popular knowledge sharing series — The Great HR Best Practice Share — to the southernmost atoll of Addu.

The session — the first event in Addu by MAHRP — will take place from 10am to 12pm on Saturday at Equator Village resort. It will be conducted in partnership with Equator Village, as well as Southern Community Empowerment Association of Maldives (SCEAM) and AO News.

The Great HR Best Practice Share session in Addu will focus on topics related to change management and mindset, disciplinary procedures and their relation to HR professionals. A panel discussion will also be held on key challenges such as gender equality and harassment at workplace.

Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of HR Business Partner at Bank of Maldives (BML), will deliver a keynote on the topic, ‘Change 4.0 – Transformation Meets Agility’, where he will highlight specific aspects on developing the mindset necessary for any successful change management project or transformation. Ali Adam, General Manager HR at Universal Enterprises, will share the best practices in handling disciplinary issues with respect to existing labour laws.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Athif, Director of HR at Kandima Maldives, will moderate the panel discussion on the topic, ‘Gender Equality and Harassment at Workplace’.

Confirmed penalises include Aishath Manal Khalid, former Assistant Research Officer at the Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives who is currently pursuing higher studies at ADA University in Azerbaijan; and Mariyam Shifana, an educator and community leader who had previously served as the principal of Adh. Dhigurah School.

Two more panellists are awaiting confirmation.

The HR Best Practice Share and Knowledge Session series is a special knowledge sharing forum where participating organisations will present their practices in various aspect of human resources management. These regular sessions always bring out wonderful stories of how things can be done in organisations regardless of their resources or financial strength.

BBM, Lifebuoy empowers hygiene practices among Maldivian children

BBM, in collaboration with Lifebuoy, marked Global Handwashing Day 2024 with engaging activities aimed at instilling the habit of proper hand hygiene among Maldivian school children. Held on November 17th, the event continued the successful “H for Handwashing” campaign, blending education with creativity and fun.

The initiative featured info sessions, exciting games, and creative contests designed to teach children the importance of handwashing while giving them a hands-on understanding of the correct techniques. Activities ranged from reimagined board games like “Germs & Ladders” and “Handwashing Ludo” to interactive sessions that reinforced hygiene habits in an enjoyable way.

This campaign underscores BBM’s commitment to fostering healthier practices among the younger generation, contributing to a healthier and more hygienic Maldives. COO of BBM, A.V.S. Subrahmanyam, emphasised, “At BBM, we believe that empowering the next generation with the knowledge and tools for better hygiene practices is vital for building a resilient and healthy community.
