Four Seasons Resorts Maldives introduce MarineSavers.com – a website dedicated to the marine conservation projects

Maldives Promotion House – In response to guests’ wishes to be kept updated on its many ongoing marine conservation projects, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives has launched www.marinesavers.com – a website dedicated to the work of the Resorts’ marine conservation teams.
The site features the history, progress and plans of all of the key marine projects at both Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru and Four Seasons Resort Kuda Huraa: from the Reefscapers coral reef regeneration project to The Maldivian Sea Turtle Conservation Programme, as well as details of The Manta Trust charity.
Interactive components on the site enable guests to keep track of the Resorts’ satellite-tagged turtles, as well as follow the progress of coral frames they have themselves sponsored and transplanted while on vacation. The site is also regularly updated with news of island events from the discovery of turtle nests to the freeing of entangled turtles, outreach projects with local schools and updates on the latest rehabilitation patients (including turtles and even a false killer whale!).
Intriguing videos, slideshows and photography bring the work of the Resorts’ two Marine Discovery Centres to life, while mini profiles showcase the experience and expertise of the Centres’ dedicated team members.
Project History
Four Seasons Resorts Maldives marine conservation projects date back to 2001, when the Resorts first started working with local environmental agency Seamarc Pvt. Ltd on a coral reef regeneration project to encourage coral growth around Kuda Huraa. Since then, the project has developed into one of the world’s most successful reef regeneration programs, and has sparked a succession of conservation initiatives at the Resorts with the potential to make a real difference to the local community and environment.
Under the ever-watchful eye of Seamarc’s founder, Thomas Le Berre, the Resorts’ conservation projects are run from its two on-site Marine Discovery Centres by a team of 10 to 15 marine biologists (seasonal). The Centres are managed by Yoann Sabathé (Landaa Giraavaru) and Martin Stelfox (Kuda Huraa). Ongoing projects range from fish breeding to turtle conservation, local education programs to health initiatives, cultural regeneration to support of The Manta Trust charity (formerly The Maldivian Manta Ray Project), based at and supported by Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru since 2005. Staff and guests play a huge role in the process, from planting coral frames to participating in reef cleanups, to assisting with the rescue and release of injured turtles.
Awards and Recognition
In 2012, Four Seasons Resorts Maldives were privileged to receive the Doing It All and Wildlife Conservation awards for large resorts in the annual Condé Nast Traveler World Savers Awards 2012, created to honour the travel companies doing the most to help protect the planet and give back to their local communities.
In addition, Travel + Leisure’s 2012 Global Vision Awards highlighted Four Seasons Resorts Maldives as one of just twenty international standard bearers for responsible tourism, with a place in the awards’ Conservation category.

From first visit to thousand dives: Love story anchored at Bandos Maldives

Bandos Maldives recently marked a significant milestone with two of its most loyal guests, Kate and Andy, who have shared a long-standing connection with the island.
Andy achieved an impressive feat by completing his 900th dive, all undertaken with Dive Bandos. His wife, Kate, surpassed this accomplishment by reaching her 1000th dive, with over 900 of those dives also completed alongside the Bandos team.
The Dive Bandos team joined the couple in celebrating this memorable occasion, recognising not only their dedication to diving but also the enduring bond they have formed with the resort over the years.
Kate and Andy’s relationship with Bandos extends far beyond statistics. Having first visited the island in 2006, they have returned every year since, making Bandos an integral part of their lives. In 2014, the couple even chose to exchange their wedding vows underwater at the resort — a unique moment that forever linked their love story with Bandos.
“Celebrating guests like Kate and Andy reminds us of what Bandos truly represents,” said Ismail Rasheed, General Manager of Bandos Maldives.
For Bandos Maldives, moments such as these exemplify why guests continue to choose the island for both adventure and a sense of belonging. With stories like Kate and Andy’s, Bandos stands not merely as a dive destination, but as a home — both beneath and above the waves.
