MAHRP concludes successful HR best practice share session

Maldives Association of Human Resource Professionals (MAHRP) has successfully concluded an HR best practice share session.

The Great HR Best Practice Share April 2019 edition, which was held at the Faculty of Education Auditorium on April 13, attracted an audience of 87 HR professionals. The event focused on three different streams of HR: happiness at work, employee engagement, and rewards and recognitions.

Ibrahim Inaz, Resort Manager at SAii Lagoon Maldives, gave a presentation on employee engagement and its role in building organisational cultures, whilst Sujatha Haleem, Chief Operating Officer at the Maldives Pension Administration Office, walked the attendees through a case study covering several initiatives taken by the pension administrator in oder to ensure that their employees were happy and felt productive at work. Hassan Shamaam, HR Manager at JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, highlighted the strengths of an organisational culture which is driven by a set of rewards of recognitions that celebrate the employees’ work and make them feel valued.

The Great HR Best Practice Share series is a special knowledge sharing forum where participating organisations will present their practices in various aspect of human resources management. These monthly sessions always bring out wonderful stories of how things can be done in organisations regardless of their resources or financial strength.

Following the successful HR best practice share session, MAHRP is gearing up for a general get together of its members on April 28. During this event to be held at Ghiyasuddin School in capital Male from 8.15-10pm, Kirunba Shankar, President of the Professional Speakers Association of India, will deliver a keynote address, drawing on his experience as an entrepreneur, digital marketing and social media consultant, and author.

The association will also launch its Speakers Club initiative on June 22.

MAHRP is the first professional association registered in the Maldives, dedicated to human resources and people development. The association’s mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most current and comprehensive resources, and to advance the profession by promoting HR’s essential values, setting professional standards and providing the know-how. It is committed to linking and connecting HR professionals and practitioners locally and oversees through signature events and membership activities.

As part of its aim to develop human resources, MAHRP regularly hosts knowledge share events. The association also organised an exclusive training event in Maldives with world’s leading customer experience consultant Ron Kaufman, and the first ever National HR Convention and Expo.

MAHRP’s main focus for 2019 is identifying key challenges in human capital development and work towards adding value to every aspect of HR throughout the country. This includes a series of activities, including HR knowledge share, best practice share, HR organisational level quizzes, HR convention and debate sessions, as well as inspirational talks with world-class speakers.

Villa Resorts, a leading Maldivian resort group, recently hosted a series of events for over 200 travel agents from India.

The events were held to highlight the company’s recent rebranding and to familiarise travel agents with the significant changes made as part of its strategic Blue Ocean Shift.

Villa Resorts has a significant market presence in India, and the events were part of the company’s ongoing efforts to work closely with its partners to showcase its transformation and enhancements in its products and services.

The familiarisation events drew over 200 participants, making it one of the largest series of events for travel agents ever hosted by a Maldivian resort group.

Villa Resorts plans to continue hosting similar events throughout the coming year to promote its growing portfolio of resorts to the Indian market.
