MAHRP partners with CIPD to develop Maldives HR professionals

Published

on

Maldives Association of HR Professionals (MAHRP) and Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD) has entered into a partnership.

A memorandum on cooperation was signed on March 5, during the National HR Convention and Expo hosted by MAHRP at the main convention centre of Dharubaaruge in capital Male from March 4-5. Ahmed Ibrahim, vice president of MAHRP, and Edward Houghton, Head of Research and Thought Leadership at CIPD, signed the agreement.

“CIPD is pleased to sign this historic MOC with the first professional body in the Maldives championing human capital excellence. CIPD Is committed to help MAHRP in its mandate to guide the HR professionals and network. We will be helping them in various aspects of HR practices and other needs as it arises,” Edward Houghton was quoted in a statement, as saying.

Under this partnership, MAHRP and CIPD will work together on four different vital areas, with one being sharing research and data, which is crucial to the development of HR practices in Maldives and making good HR-related decisions. CIPD will also work closely with MAHRP in developing much-needed HR research base, which will serve as a guide on how responsible and actionable research can be done in the Maldives. The third key focus area is partnering with MAHRP in conducting HR knowledge share events, highlighting various HR streams such as talent development, succession planning, data-based HR practices, and HR and research-based decision making.

MAHPR will also explore ways to bring CIPD membership to the Maldives, and assist Maldivian HR professionals who aim to reach the levels of CIPD and its affiliated members and programmes. MAHRP will offer CIPD membership services to its members and will guide them to achieve CIDP membership status through a rigorous coaching and mentoring programme, which is expected to begin in July. CIPD will support this initiative in ensuring all standards are followed and interested MAHRP members are guided accordingly.

“Having this MOC provides MAHRP yet another platform to bring new HR and human capital development ideas, practices and most importantly, CIPD will guide MAHRP in keeping its values, vision and purpose aligned at all times. We are delighted to receive CIPD’s support in our effort to add value to the HR network in the Maldives,” MAHRP President Hussain Afeef, who also serves as the Regional Director of Training, Development and Quality Assurance at LUX* Resorts, said.

Headquarters in the UK with various hubs in parts of the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Asia, CIPD is the career partner of choice for over 150,000 professional members around the world. CIPD is the only body in the world that can award Chartered Status to individual HR or L&D professionals, and their independent research and insights make them trusted advisors to governments and worldwide employers.

MAHRP is the first professional association registered in the Maldives, dedicated to human resources and people development. The association’s mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most current and comprehensive resources, and to advance the profession by promoting HR’s essential values, setting professional standards and providing the know-how. It is committed to linking and connecting HR professionals and practitioners locally and oversees through signature events and membership activities.

As part of its aim to develop human resources, MAHRP regularly hosts knowledge share events. The association also organised an exclusive training event in Maldives with world’s leading customer experience consultant Ron Kaufman.

MAHRP’s main focus for 2019 is identifying key challenges in human capital development and work towards adding value to every aspect of HR throughout the country. This includes a series of activities, including HR knowledge share, best practice share, HR organisational level quizzes, HR convention and debate sessions, as well as inspirational talks with world-class speakers.

Meanwhile, MAHRP has signed a similar agreement with the Chartered Institute of Personal Management (CIPM) of Sri Lanka, in a bid to develop the HR professionals network in Maldives.
