HIH named Indian Ocean’s best Luxury Airport Hotel at World Luxury Hotel Awards

Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH) has been named the best Luxury Airport Hotel in Indian Ocean at the 2017 World Luxury Hotel Awards.

The continental title was given at the 2017 World Luxury Hotel Awards gala held at the Kulm Hotel St Moritz in Switzerland on December 2. Additionally, the hotel won the award for the best Luxury Gourmet Hotel in the Maldives.

Utkarsh Faujdar, the General Manager at HIH, was also named the Best General Manager in Indian Ocean.

HIH, the only hotel located on the airport island of Hulhule, provides free two-way shuttles to Velana International Airport, just five minutes’ drive away. With 136 guest rooms in various categories, HIH boasts a private beach, an outdoor pool and a golf putting green.

The hotel has six food and beverage options. Offering an international menu, Uduvilaa features glass walls overlooking the sea, while the 24-hour Faru Coffee House specialises in European, Japanese and Italian dishes.

Guests can enjoy a game of tennis or beach volleyball, or exercise in the fitness centre. Massages and body treatments are offered at the spa, which also features a sauna.

Established in 2006, World Luxury Hotel Awards is the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury hotel industry offering international recognition as voted by guests, travellers and industry players alike. Over 300 000 international travellers vote each year, during a four-week period to select the winners. Luxury hotels have the opportunity to participate in the World Luxury Hotel Awards by entering hotel categories that showcase their unique selling points and destinations.

Rajesh Mehta, Chief Business Officer at Ooredoo Maldives, is set to deliver a presentation at the Hotelier Maldives GM Forum 2024, scheduled to take place on September 19 at CROSSROADS Maldives.
