On our arrival at Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef, we were given a warm welcome by the resort’s Executive Assistant Manager Brij Rajpali.

Brij, who has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, has been putting that experience to best use in Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef for three years. He shared with us his views and experiences before joining Taj in the Maldives and his current role.

Brij, after completing high school, directly joined a hotel management programme in his native India. His first endeavour in the hospitality industry was with the Oberoi group of hotels at the age of 21 where he worked for a total of nine years. During his first tenure at Oberoi hotels, he gained a diverse experience in luxury hospitality and it proved to be a turning point in his career.

After his move to Taj, he worked at the group’s properties in different cities across India such as Khajuraho, Jaipur, Goa, Mumbai, Lucknow and Chennai. But working in the Maldives has been, according to Brij who has now completed 14 years of service with Taj, a totally different experience and a great feeling.

For Brij, working in the Maldives has been a dream come true — an experience he also shares with the guests arriving in Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef with utmost passion and dedication. Brij who is very proud of his colleagues drives the resort to provide its guests with best in class services they require.

Operating with his team, Brij focuses on fusing different concepts with the Maldivian environment, especially in dealing with guests. With a lot of competition from the world’s top resort brands operating in the Maldives, Brij says they especially target to infuse diverse ethnic cuisines to entertain the guests gastronomically. With tastes from around the globe including South American, Thai, Japanese, Continental, European, Indian and Sri Lankan in place, Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef has also hired associates from different parts of the world to interact with the guests.
