St. Regis Maldives to celebrate first festive season with grand festivities

Published

on

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is gearing up to celebrate its first festive season by inviting guests to enjoy an abundance of Christmas activities while enjoying the pristine white-sand beaches of the island.

Kicking off the celebrations on December 23, the ultra-luxury resort will hold a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Vommuli House from 5-6pm.

On Christmas Eve, guests can enjoy The St. Regis’ signature beverages, live DJ and saxophonist, while watching the sunset at the iconic Whale Bar.

Just a quick stroll across the beach to Alba restaurant, guests can tuck in to a Christmas Eve feast with live cooking stations and the finest selection of grape. They will also be joined by Unoosha, the island nation’s much-loved leading vocalist who will provide a live performance on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The excitement of Christmas Day will be heightened for all children with the arrival of Santa Claus at Vommuli Island from 10am until noon.

Guests can then indulge in a Christmas Day lunch at the resort’s beach front restaurant, Alba, where they can enjoy a delicious three-course Mediterranean menu with an Asian twist.

To continue the festive spirit, a gourmet, five-course dinner will be prepared by executive chef Ayyoub Salameh at the resort’s underground cellar Decanter. The chef and sommelier will host the dinner from 7-7-11pm on December 25, and introduce each course and the grape chosen to accompany it.

To limit the holiday damage, guests can take part in an invigorating aqua cardio workout at the Iridium Spa’s Blue Hole pool on Boxing Day. There is also an opportunity to experience a moonlight meditation session with the in-house yoga instructor.

On December 31, the resort will host a beachfront New Year’s Eve dinner from 8.30pm until 11.30pm at their signature restaurant Alba. Guests can then enjoy an unforgettable firework show at midnight whilst dancing away to live music by a Maldivian singer and DJ.

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is nestled on a private island in the secluded Dhaalu atoll, amidst thriving marine life. Just 40 minutes from the main Velana International Airport by seaplane, guests are transported to a newfound paradise.

Designed with great respect to its natural surroundings, the resort is surrounded by a large house reef and the island is defined by several distinct ecological areas: lagoon, beach coastal and jungle. At The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, guests have the luxury of staying in one of the 77 island and overwater villas, shrouded in lush tropical flora, each with a private pool.

There are six distinct dining venues, including an Asian specialty restaurant, a modern Italian restaurant that features a grand staircase, an underground wine cellar restaurant, a shack style restaurant, a signature overwater bar that rolls out stunning views of dramatic sunset, and a pop-up restaurant in the middle of the resort.

Additionally, guests can also enjoy the Iridium Spa, which presents six overwater treatment rooms, including two that are dedicated to healing Ayurvedic treatments. Spa guests can also enjoy a Blue Hole pool, which contains heated seawater with different water jets – a system with proven benefits to the body.

Craig David shares emotional Maldives moment after ‘Rise & Fall’ surprise at resort dinner

Published

on

British singer and songwriter Craig David has shared an emotional reflection from his recent visit to the Maldives after being surprised at dinner by the Maldivian Duo, Huyam and Shan, @huya_shan, who performed a cover of his hit Rise & Fall at a resort.

Posting on Instagram, the 43-year-old artist wrote: “This touched my heart differently🥹❤️ At dinner @huya_shan a beautiful local Maldivian duo surprised me with a cover of Rise & Fall🎶 Little did I know a core memory was being made✨Thank you both for this kind & thoughtful gift.”

The moment—shared with David’s global audience—spotlighted a side of the Maldives experience that goes beyond scenery: intimate, guest-facing cultural encounters where local talent becomes part of the evening’s story. The singer’s emphasis on being “touched” and describing the performance as a “core memory” drew strong engagement from fans, many of whom responded to the warmth of the exchange and the setting in the Maldives.

Rise & Fall, released in 2003, is one of David’s best-known songs and features Sting, built around a sample from Shape of My Heart. The choice of song—and the surprise delivery—appeared to resonate personally with the artist, who has often spoken about music’s power to connect people across places and backgrounds.

Craig David rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, breaking through with Fill Me In and the multi-platinum debut album Born to Do It, before building a catalogue spanning UK garage, R&B and pop. His Maldives post adds to a growing pattern of high-profile artists and public figures sharing on-island moments with local performers—an increasingly visible intersection between luxury hospitality and Maldivian creative talent.

Huya and Shan are known for their work as part of the duo, “Huya & Shan” and their performances in resorts of Maldives. They have also been featured previously for their roles in the Maldives’ tourism entertainment scene. In this instance, the duet created what David described as a lasting memory—one that also amplified Maldivian musicianship to a global audience in a single post.
