Hurawalhi Maldives to host first marine science workshop in Lhaviyani atoll
Hurawalhi Maldives has announced plans to host the first ever marine science workshop in its native Lhaviyani atoll.
The workshop, which will take place on July 14, invites marine biologists, dive instructors, snorkel guides and tour operators in Lhaviyani atoll to come and meet their fellow ocean advocates and to equip themselves with the knowledge and tools to provide their guests with the most up-to-date information. The workshop will also look to instil sustainable tourism values and practices in the atoll’s community, and facilitate better research collection and collaboration in the atoll.
The workshop will be led by Manta Trust’s Project Manager and Hurawalhi’s Resident Marine Biologist Kirsty Ballard, who will educate attendees about Manta Trust’s Maldivian Manta Ray Project‘s most recent finding. Kirsty will be joined by representatives from Atoll Marine Centre and Olive Ridley Project who will discuss their current turtle and clownfish research projects.
Officially inaugurated in January 2016, the five-star Hurawalhi resort is accessible by a 40-minute scenic seaplane flight from the main airport, and offers 90 villas, including 60 Ocean Villas and 30 Beach Villas, for grown-ups who are seeking luxury and innovation. The villas are stylishly and beautifully conceived featuring soothing décor, sumptuous linens on king size beds, bleached wooden floors, and private terraces with panoramic views.
There is an ocean of delights to take in at Hurawalhi Maldives: dining at 5.8 Undersea Restaurant, snuggling up with your darling under a blanket or sparkling stars on the iconic Dream Island sandbank, falling in love with the plethora of marine life on the island’s doorstep – in fact, one visit to the resort is hardly enough to experience it all.
