American footballer Mark Ingram spends honeymoon in Maldives

American football player Mark Ingram is spending his honeymoon in Maldives.

The 27-year-old New Orleans Saints running back got engaged to girlfriend Chelsea Diznee in November and the couple married this weekend.

The couple arrived in the Maldives early this week and travelled to the recently opened Soneva Jani resort in the northern Noonu Atoll. They have been sharing photos and videos — from fancy first class aeroplane seats to the luxury hotel room that comes with a waterslide, a retractable roof and a glass bottom floor — on social media.

During his sophomore college season in 2009, Ingram won the first Heisman Trophy ever awarded to an Alabama Crimson Tide player, set the Crimson Tide’s single-season rushing record with 1,658 yards, was recognised as a unanimous All-American, and helped lead the Tide to an undefeated 14–0 season and the 2010 BCS National Championship.

The New Orleans Saints chose him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He had the first 1,000 rushing yard season of his career last year.

Soneva Jani is the latest luxury resort from Soneva in the Maldives and comprises 24 water villas and one island villa. Every water villa has a private pool and opens to its own stretch of lagoon, with some villas featuring slides going directly from the top deck into the lagoon below. Like all other Soneva properties, the spacious villas feature beautifully designed interiors by Eva Shivdasani, one of Soneva’s co-founders, and are made from the highest quality sustainable materials.
