Amilla Fushi to host time-travelling ‘Party of the Century’ for New Year’s Eve extravaganza
Amilla Fushi has announced plans to follow a time-travelling “party of the century” concept for the upcoming New Year’s Eve celebrations at the resort.
The countdown to Christmas has already begun at scene-shaping Maldives luxury resort Amilla Fushi, as details of its hotly anticipated annual festive shenanigans emerge – culminating in an era-spanning New Year’s Eve ‘party of the century’ that will see guests dancing through 100 years in a single night, from the Roaring Twenties all the way through to the dawn of 2020.
Renowned for its star-studded festivities – last year global pop icon Rita Ora topped the bill – Amilla is set to welcome back Nick Grimshaw for another raucous NYE DJ set; and an as-yet-undisclosed chart-topping headline performer. Following the coup of last year’s intimate performance by Rita Ora, the UK singles chart’s most successful British female artist of all time, speculation is already mounting as to the identity of this year’s star guest.
Open to all guests at no extra charge, the New Year’s Eve extravaganza kicks off at sunset with a revival of the Roaring Twenties – think live jazz, clandestine cocktails from an art deco speakeasy, and gangsters and flapper girls dancing the Charleston.
As night falls, the boomers take over the beach for an interactive culinary carnival featuring a 50s Americana-inspired ‘drive-in’; a Flower-Powered hippie hangout serving CBD oil-based starters and desserts; and a 80s disco buffet – all brought vividly to life with dazzling entertainment by Area 51 performers.
The party then moves to the marina for a Nineties and Noughties DJ set by Nick Grimshaw ahead of the big countdown. After a spectacular midnight firework display, 2020 begins with a headline performance by this year’s mystery star guest – watch this space.
Any hardcore party people still standing after this epochal celebration for the ages can hit the after party at Amilla’s notorious 1 OAK Lounge from 3am to 8am.
Amilla’s elves are also dreaming up days and nights full of enchantment and wonder for the rest of the festive season. Foodies will think all their Christmases have come at once, with lip-smacking themed nights at chilled-out foodie hub Baazaar, enchanting dining experiences in the magical Mystique Garden, and incredible journeys of flavourful Japanese cuisine at signature overwater restaurant, Feeling Koi.
Australian football legend and former Everton player, Tim Cahill, will also be back on the island to inspire young footballers with a four-day festive training camp. Kids aged from 5-8 years, and teens from 9-16 years, can perfect their skills on Amilla’s very own full-sized pitch with elite coaching from the Socceroos’ all-time leading goal scorer.
Located just 30 minutes by seaplane from Velana International Airport, Amilla Fushi offers a choice of 59 Houses that sit gracefully over crystal clear waters, nestle among lush tree tops or hug the shores of pristine white sand; plus eight spectacular four- to eight-bedroom Beach Residences ideally suited to large families, groups of friends and VVIPs seeking the ultimate in space and privacy.
Amilla’s innovative restaurants range from the diverse, informal foodie hub Baazaar to the relaxed yet sophisticated overwater dining at the signature Feeling Koi. Guests can even drop in to gourmet café and deli The Emperor General Store or The Wine Shop & Cellar Door to treat themselves to lighter snacks, a favourite bottle or a gourmet selection of artisanal cheeses.
With an unrivalled range of purpose-designed multi-bedroom accommodation options, and an exciting, inspiring and active Kids’ Club The Sultan’s Village, Amilla Fushi is putting the Maldives on the map as a destination not just for couples, but for families and friends.

Each day brings its own defining moments, while leaving guests with the freedom to slow down, explore Ifuru Island and enjoy the experience at their own pace.
Across four days and nights, the programme moves between sunset sessions, live performances, DJ led nights, poolside gatherings, shared dining experiences, art, wellness and movement, before coming together for a unplugged jam session.

LAST RIPPLE
Monday, 21 September 2026
Ripple & Friends does not simply end after the fourth night.
On Monday, guests come together one final time for Last Ripple, featuring an Unplugged Jam Session at Hubba Hubba.
Stripping the experience back to live music and the people who have shared the previous four days, Last Ripple offers an intimate conclusion to the gathering before guests say goodbye to the island and to new friends made along the way.
- Unplugged Jam Session at Hubba Hubba
At the heart of Ripple & Friends is a collective of talent spanning duos, selectors, art, wellness and movement.
The 2026 gathering features:
- Inma & Mira
- Farey & Nish
- Afruh
- Tappu
- Amney & Aleef
- Martha
- Studio Odi by Naani
- Sharu
Together, they bring different creative dimensions to the island, allowing the programme to move naturally between music, performance, art, wellness and movement throughout the four days.

What sets Ripple & Friends apart is its intentionally unhurried approach.
Instead of creating a packed schedule that asks guests to move constantly from one event to another, the experience allows the island itself to become part of the programme.
One moment each day is shaped around the Ripple & Friends community, while the rest leaves room for guests to wander, discover and enjoy Ifuru Island on their own terms.
Music moves between Waterfront, the Pool Deck, Beach Club and Hubba Hubba. Meals become social gatherings. Wellness and movement provide a different rhythm to the mornings, while sunsets naturally bring everyone back together.
At its heart, Ripple & Friends is about the people sharing those moments.
Guests may arrive as names on a list, but the idea is simple: Come as a guest, leave as a friend.

The festive calendar extends far beyond the carnival itself, with signature experiences unfolding throughout the season. Guests can gather for the magical Christmas Tree Light-Up Ceremony, welcome Santa Claus as he makes his tropical arrival by the beach, raise a glass at the Christmas Gala Cocktail and celebrate together during the elegant New Year’s Eve Gala and spectacular countdown to 2027. Along the way, colourful moments such as the annual Olhuveli Colour Run, Kids Futsal League, international Street Market, beach parties, themed dining experiences, sunset cruises, wellness sessions, sports tournaments and family activities ensure there is always something new to discover from sunrise to starlight.

Second Hard Rock Cafe Maldives music festival strengthens cultural exchange
The vibrant music festival held at Hard Rock Cafe Maldives on the 19th of this month was successfully concluded, marking its second consecutive year in collaboration with Alliance Française de Male’. The event once again delivered a dynamic celebration of music, culture, and international artistic exchange.

Building on the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s festival featured a carefully curated lineup of three bands and two solo artists, creating a high-energy fusion of local and international talent that captivated audiences throughout the evening. The collaboration between Hard Rock Cafe Maldives and Alliance Française continued to strengthen cultural ties through music, offering a platform where local talent could perform alongside international artists in a shared creative space.

The lineup included:
- Equatic Vibe (Maldives)—full band
- SkyRock (Maldives)—full band
- Funk Island (Sri Lanka)—featured international highlight band
- Dr. Tatsuya Daniel (USA)—solo keyboard artist
- Katherine (Sri Lanka)—solo expat keyboard artist

This year’s edition was further strengthened through important cultural sponsorships and institutional support, which played a key role in bringing together an internationally diverse lineup. The featured international band Funk Island (Sri Lanka) was sponsored by the French Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, while Dr Tatsuya Daniel (USA) was supported by the United States Embassy in the Maldives, reinforcing the role of cultural diplomacy in enabling artistic exchange.

The festival also forms part of the global spirit inspired by La Fête de la Musique (World Music Day), an annual celebration that originated in France in 1982. Created to encourage both amateur and professional musicians to perform freely in public spaces, the initiative promotes the idea of “music everywhere, for everyone.” Held annually on 21 June, it has since grown into a worldwide movement celebrated in more than 120 countries, uniting people through the universal language of music.

“Music remains one of the most powerful tools for cultural connection. This partnership with Hard Rock Cafe Maldives allows us to bring French and international artistic influences closer to the Maldivian audience while celebrating local creativity. We are proud to see this festival grow into a much-anticipated annual event,” said Beblai Gabin, Director at Alliance Française de Male’.

“Hosting this festival for the second consecutive year is a testament to the strong collaboration we have built with Alliance Française and the incredible support from our community. Bringing together local bands with international artists creates an unmatched energy that truly defines the Hard Rock Cafe spirit,” said Frederic Lebegue.

Guests were treated to an immersive live music experience, with performances spanning multiple genres and styles, delivering the signature high-energy atmosphere that the festival has become known for. The seamless blend of local and international acts reinforced the event’s reputation as a standout cultural highlight in Malé’s annual calendar.

Organisers expressed their appreciation for the continued partnership and strong audience turnout, noting that the success of the second edition sets a strong foundation for future expansions of the festival.

The evening concluded on a celebratory note, with enthusiastic feedback from attendees underscoring the festival’s growing popularity and its role in promoting music-driven cultural exchange in the Maldives
