Celebrities promote Maldives in South Korea
A group of South Korean celebrities has visited Maldives, as part of a joint campaign by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Singapore Airlines to promote the Maldives.
The celebrities include Nichkhun and Chanseong from JYP Group, as well as actor Keonjoo Jeong who was on famous Korean show, “Summer Night Talk Show”.
During their visit, the celebrities stayed at Equator Village and Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa in the southernmost atoll of Addu.
They created eight different video stories, which have now been published on the JYP entertainment’s YouTube channel, jyppictures, and have already received over 163,000 views.
Following their trip to the Maldives, the influential figures hosted an event in South Korea. The “Midsummer Night Travel Talk Concert”, held at The Ananti Club in Cheongdam-dong, saw attendees from the tourism and hospitality industry, celebrities and influencers of South Korea.
Hosted by comedian Yoon-sang Ahn, the event began with a cocktail reception. A video featuring the experiences of the celebrities in Maldives was displayed during the event, followed by a garden party and a lucky draw, which offered a complimentary holiday package to the Maldives.
The South Korea market has promising potential for the Maldives’ tourism industry.
A total of 34,400 tourists from South Korea visited the Maldives in 2018. Official figures from January to July of this year show an 8.1 per cent increase compared to the arrival numbers from South Korea in the same period last year.
