Maldives wins three Indian Ocean accolades at World Travel Awards 2019

Maldives has cemented its reputation as the definitive Indian Ocean destination for travellers by defending three prestigious accolades at the World Travel Awards 2019.

The elite of the travel industry assembled on Friday for the World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony at Sugar Beach – A Sun Resort to find out who amongst them would be crowned best of the best.

At the ceremony, Maldives was crowned Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, and Indian Ocean’s leading Dive Destination.

Maldives had won the title of Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination each year since 2013, whilst it had been named Indian Ocean’s leading Dive Destination for the past four consecutive years. The Maldives had also won Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination award in 2010, 2011, 2012 and again in 2016.

Hundreds of the leading travel industries figureheads from across Africa and the Indian Ocean attended the World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony at Sugar Beach – A Sun Resort, which borders the vast sands of Flic-en-Flac Beach.
