MATATO to host dedicated Maldives travel trade roadshow in US
Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has opened registration for a travel trade roadshow in North America dedicated for Maldives.
In a statement, MATATO said the roadshow would take place in October in Chicago, New York and Miami.
MATATO invited interested parties to fill a co-exhibitor registration form and send it to its office along with the payment before 3pm on March 29.
Participation costs USD 7,000 for the three cities, and and covers accommodation in four-star hotels, airport transfers and intercity flights, and participation in city-specific workshops. For a second delegate, USD 2,800 for the three cities will be charged.
“This pure B2B event is targeted for high end products, where we have the leading top producing qualified tour agents and tour operators as buyers, who does outbound. The buyer data is reviewed and the most potential buyers for the year are invited at the event enabling you meet good number of potential buyers,” the statement read.
“The buyers at the event are on invite basis and have the decision makers attending the event with pre-scheduled appointments.”
US has recently secured a place amongst the top 10 contributors to the Maldives tourism industry, with arrivals totalling 39,180 in 2017 — a 20.2 percent increase over the 32,589 in 2016. That growth is expected to continue this year as well, as arrivals from the US increased by 12.3 percent to reach 3,930 last month compared to the 3,499 in January 2017.
As part of the destination marketing efforts by MATATO, it has in the recent years increased the number of travel trade events that it takes part in. Last year, MATATO along with tourism industry representatives showcased the Maldives at 15 international travel shows and exhibitions.
MATATO has announced plans to participate in 19 international travel trade fairs and exhibitions in 2018. Other travel trade roadshows that MATATO has scheduled to participate include Outbound Travel Roadshow (OTR) India, Southeast Asia and Middle East.
