Dusit to Open its First Maldives Resort this December

Maldives Promotion House – Dusit International, one of Asia’s leading hotel groups, has announced that they will be opening their first resort in the Maldives, during this December. The new Dusit property is located in Mudhdhoo Island, northwest of Malé in Baa atoll, and is expected to open in mid December. Named as Dusit Thani Maldives, Mudhdhoo Island, Baa Atoll, the new resort is a short 40 minute sea plane ride from Malé or a 10 minute speedboat ride from the new domestic airport.

According to Dusit, the island has an area of approximately 186,000 square metres, and will be composed of 100 villas, 1 spa and 3 restaurants and bars as well as other utilities relating to the resort business. The Dusit Thani, Mudhdhoo Island, Baa Atoll will feature 46 beach villas, two beach houses, 30 water villas, 20 ocean villas, and two ocean houses that are considered as the largest in the Maldives.

Extensive facilities including a 50-metre swimming pool, which is the largest in the Maldives, pool bar, over-water and grill restaurants, tree top spa, tennis courts, dive centre and extensive water activities in and around the resort will also be available. Dusit International CEO Chanin Donavanik said that this new first foray into the Maldives is a very exciting addition to their growing portfolio and represents a great milestone for the Dusit brand.

Dusit Thani will combine the rich flavour of Thai hospitality with the stunning tropical beauty of the Maldives,” Chief Executive Officer of Dusit International, Mr Chanin Donavanik said.

Ltd., Maldives and developer of Mudhdhoo Island Resort, Mr Ahmed Umar Maniku said.

The Dusit Thani Group of companies, also known as Dusit International is a Bangkok-based hotel and resort company. The company was founded in 1948 by Honorary Chairperson Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, and today, has over 22 hotel properties located in Thailand and overseas with plans to open up many more soon.

A native of Germany, Chef Joachim Textor began his illustrious career as a cook at various world-class hotels in Switzerland. Regarded as one of the most pioneering chefs in the industry, Chef Joachim has also opened multiple award-winning hotels and dozens of restaurants in both the Middle East and the Far East, while he has also cooked for a number of famous politicians, Hollywood celebrities, and royalty all over the world. His past assignments include the G12 Asian Summit Conference in Busan, where he cooked for such prestigious world leaders as George W. Bush, Angela Merkel and Li Peng.

A positive and cheerful personality with an energetic passion for innovation in his creations, Chef Joachim is now set for the next adventure in his culinary journey. JOALI Appoints Özgür Cengiz as Global Wellness Development Director

Cengiz brings over 20 years of experience in the hospitality and wellness industry. His career began with the opening team of Turkey’s first wellness resort, Richmond Nua Wellness, followed by leadership roles at Jumeirah in Azerbaijan and One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives.

In 2016, Cengiz joined JOALI as the Resort Manager for JOALI Maldives, the brand’s first art-immersive resort. He then played a pivotal role in establishing JOALI BEING, the Maldives’ first wellbeing island, as its General Manager.

Under Cengiz’s leadership, JOALI BEING garnered global recognition as a leading wellness destination. He is credited with creating the unique concept, curating a team of specialists, and introducing a diverse range of treatments – solidifying JOALI’s position as a wellness powerhouse.

Cengiz’s dedication extends beyond JOALI. He served as the Maldivian ambassador for Global Wellness Day for seven years, is a respected speaker in international wellness forums, and judges the Global Spa & Wellness Awards. His innovative approach and solution-oriented mindset have earned him widespread respect within the industry.
