Maldives Marine Expo 2017 wraps up
Maldives Marine Expo 2017 wrapped up Monday evening.
Twenty-four exhibitors showcased their products at the expo, which took place from Saturday to Monday at the main convention centre of Dharubaaruge in capital Male. In addition, expert panel discussions, hourly lucky draws and an art exhibition were held during the expo, which was open for visitors everyday from 2-10pm.
“We’re very happy with the support and feedback. All the exhibitors had the opportunity to meet with a wide range of potential customers,” Ali Jinah Mohamed, Assistant Marketing Manager at event organiser Blak Pvt Ltd, said.
For the first time in the Maldives, a virtual reality zone was setup at the expo, offering visitors the chance to experience the underwater beauty and marine life of the Maldives.
As another first, a marine-themed fashion show, titled Marine Walk, also took place during the expo. On the final evening, 15 models showcased beach and swimwear from SeaGear, Rhombus and Toddy Inc.
Held annually since 2013, Maldives Marine Expo is the official exhibition of LAM, and serves as a platform for local boating industry professionals to meet and connect with their peers from around the world. It provides boat owners as well as suppliers to explore new business opportunities and partnerships, and collaborate with organisations that represent the boating industries of other countries.
Exhibitors include a wide range of businesses, including trade representatives, marine equipment suppliers and service providers. It also extends to resort developers and real estate agents as well as companies that provide telecommunication services, technology solutions, banking, financing and insurance services.
Founded in 2007, LAM represents liveaboards operating in the Maldives and helps them expand their businesses through lobbying and promotional efforts.
