Maldives named amongst Robb Report’s Best of the Best destinations
Maldives has been named amongst hot luxury travel destinations in the world and several recently opened resorts amongst the best resorts in the world by Robb Report.
Every June, Robb Report explores the latest developments in its annual “Best of the Best” issue. In a 24-page lush spread, the American luxury-lifestyle magazine describes hotels, resorts, spas, vacation homes, cruises, golf courses and more that have either debuted or relaunched after extensive renovations since March 2016.
The Maldives joins London, St. Barts, Italy’s Lake Como and Mexico’s Los Cabos in the Robb Report’s list of hot destinations.
“A trip to the Maldives is never a bad idea. But this year, the tropical wonder in the middle of the Indian Ocean offers more than a few new excuses to book an island-hopping adventure,” the article read.
The popular magazine highlighted several recently opened luxury properties in the Maldives, including the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, Soneva Jani, Milaidhoo Maldives and the Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah.
The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, named in the Condé Nast Traveler 2017 Hot List as well, is nestled on a private island in the secluded Dhaalu atoll, amidst thriving marine life. Just 40 minutes from the main Velana International Airport by seaplane, guests are transported to a newfound paradise. The all-villa resort’s unique design, inspired by the marine setting, has been created to evoke a sense of tropical island village living. Each of the 77 villas embody the perfect combination between privacy and luxury.
Soneva Jani is Soneva’s newest property, which opened in late 2016. Soneva Jani encompasses a collection of 24 overwater villas and one island villa set in a 5.6 kilometre private lagoon located in the northern Noonu Atoll. The resort spans five islands surrounded by pure white beaches, covered in rich tropical vegetation, offering the ultimate in privacy and luxury.
Located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Baa atoll, Milaidhoo Maldives, the latest resort by pioneers of Maldives tourism Universal Resorts, can be reached by a 30-minute seaplane flight. Milaidhoo offers 50 villas made using materials and fittings custom-made for the resort in a way that epitomises the true contemporary Maldives style. All villas have large private freshwater swimming pools and an island host to attend to the guests’ every whim.
Four Seasons Private Island Maldives at Voavah opened in December, becoming the world’s first exclusive-use hideaway in a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. This secluded two-hectare haven transcends the private island experience by being “entirely yours” from the moment of booking with seven bedrooms, a Beach House, a dive school and a 62-foot (18.9 metre) yacht offering ultimate privacy for up to 20 guests at a time.
“The cast of castaway fantasies will continue to grow later this year with the arrival of an opulent Italian-Maldivian mash-up of a resort from Baglioni Hotels,” the article read.
Baglioni Resort Maldives, located on the private island of Maagau in Dhaalu atoll is set to open in October. This exclusive resort of 99 villas surrounded by turquoise water, velvet white sand and the tropical nature of one of the most spectacular Maldivian islands will allow guests to experience a bespoke stay in the heart of the Indian Ocean with the unique Italian hospitality of Baglioni Hotels.
